Job Description:
SUMMARY OF KEY FUNCTIONS
The community health worker trainer plays a key role in designing training material and conduct training to uCHWs according to the MoPH/CHBC strategies and urban health initiative project requirement at community level in Kabul, Herat, Kandahar and Mazar-e-Sharif. Under the supervision community engagement specialist UHI project She is expected to identify vulnerable community and uCHWs by coordination with venerable community, including teacher, Mula, religious leaders, health Shura and CDC, and increasing awareness about Afghanistan health system and urban area. She is also expected to motivate and engage fellow community members to deliver the key messages of health to their families and community. The VCHW trainer will report to the community Engagement specialist at provincial level.
KEY RELATIONS
Reports to Community Engagement Specialist
Collaborates with UHI project
Actively contributes to Urban health initiative (UHI) project to ensure that the project interventions are implemented in effective and efficient manner and the project goal and objectives are met.
KEY RESULT EXPECTED
The CHW trainer is obliged to provide trainings, workshops and awareness facility about reproductive, maternal, neonatal and child health for Community health workers (CHWs)
The CHW trainer is contributing for selection of community health worker in target are
The CHW trainer will in insuring for implementation of urban health CBHC strategies and adapting to UHI work plan
Supervise and follow-up the CHWs activities at the targeted communities including provision of health education and services during home visits as well as in the health posts
Build a liaison with MCH and other programs and stakeholders in the area relevant to women and neonatal health
Establishment and capacity building of the Female Health Shuras, Family Health Action Groups (FHAGs) enabling these groups to work independently
She is responsible to interacts with communities and community leaders to identify health problems and facilitate community mobilization for improved decision making system so that communities are empowered and self-sustained.
Conduct supportive supervision and build capacity of them base on the need
Conducting training to CHWs about semi-annual and regular survey of target group (women and under five year children)
Any other task assigned by supervisor
COMPETENCE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Core Competencies:

Skills and Experience:
Deep knowledge of the community health services conducted by CHWs
Excellent training and facilitation and community mobilization skills
Having a deep knowledge of Afghan traditions and cultural norms
Ability and willingness to work at the communities
Excellent spoken /written Dari and Pushto
More than three years’ relevant experience on Afghanistan health system
Ability to review and monitor activity and record outcomes and learning
English language and computer skill would be a preference.
Education and working experience
Degree on MD or Diploma from medical institutions (nursing and midwifery)-at lease 14th grade graduate with minimum 3-5 years’ experience of training preferably in the area health / RMNCH
Languages Skills:
Fluency in spoken and written Dari and Pashtu is a requirement. English Language skills is a plus point
